A man will face court in July after a hydroponic setup was located at a Hunter Valley home in Deans Avenue, Singleton.
At about 6.35 pm on Thursday (29 April 2021), officers attached to the Newcastle-Hunter Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a Toyota Camry on the Hunter Expressway at Sawyers Gully and spoke with the driver, a 41-year-old man.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located and seized cash and cannabis leaf.
Sam Long, Police Regional Media Officer, Northern Region, said he was arrested and taken to Singleton Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug and deal with the proceeds of crime.
As a result of this arrest, officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District applied for and executed a search warrant at a home on Deans Avenue, Singleton Heights, in the early hours of Friday morning (30 April 2021).
Officers located a small hydroponic set up within the home with approximately 80 plants in varying stages of cultivation.
A crime scene was established, with the scene processed throughout the day.
The 41-year-old man was then charged with cultivating commercial quantity prohibited drugs.
He was refused bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 1 July 2021.
