New roof for Gym and Swim

THE Singleton Gym & Swim is currently undergoing major roof repairs, after a 2018 structural assessment report found significant corrosion damage to the steel truss and dome structure.

Local company Bulga Civil was engaged to replace the corrosion damage, install new protective coating system and install new concrete plinths.

In parallel to these works, plans to completely replace the roof structure were recently approved at the November ordinary Council meeting.

“Council resolved to go ahead with the tender,” said Singleton Mayor Sue Moore.

“It’s just a total replacement of whats already there,” she said.

The plans cover the demolition of the existing roof and supporting structures to make way for a complete replacement, as well as new ancillary structures with a new air conditioning plant enclosure and a 27,000 litre rainwater tank.

Council will now consider grant funding opportunities to deliver the project.
